about rebecca
Systems champion, opinion haver, fast talker, Pittsburgh lover.
Rebecca Himberger (she/they) is currently the Director of People and Operations for NonProfit Fiscal Management, a firm located in New York City, that provides small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations with financial expertise and management. Rebecca's work at NPFM focuses on people, systems, and client management, ensuring that communication, decision-making, and company-wide efforts to deliver high-quality financial management are fully supported. They have a two-decades-long career in successfully implementing systems design, data and financial management processes, and operational initiatives.
Prior to working at NonProfit Fiscal Management, Rebecca served as the Executive Director for Attack Theatre, the largest contemporary dance nonprofit in Pittsburgh. During their 15 year tenure as an unabashed champion for nonprofits and harsh critic of the arts, Rebecca led successful efforts in strategic, business, and capitalization planning, tactical growth through diversification of revenue sources, and operational design and management through a people-first approach. Rebecca also currently works with other Pittsburgh-area small arts organizations to build better systems and manage operations.
Rebecca is committed to giving nonprofits the tools to do what they do best while working to dismantle systems of oppression and inequitable resource allocation. When not getting into heated discussions about capacity building for nonprofit organizations, Rebecca can usually be found sending strongly worded emails to nonprofits who engage in inequitable hiring and compensation practices.
Rebecca is a recipient of Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 under 40 award for 2019, The Sprout Fund’s Legacy Award, and currently serves as the Treasurer of the board of Lawrenceville United, a community-based organization located in Pittsburgh.
Rebecca holds a Master’s in Human Relations (Diversity, Equity, and Strategic Impact) from the University of Oklahoma, a DEI in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida, and a BS in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
Rebecca is an avid gardener, hot-sauce-maker, motorcycle rider, dog mother, and harsh critic of nonprofits. Rebecca, their partner, and two dogs live in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
